Occupational Health Management (BGM)

Occupational Health Management (BGM)

Occupational health management (BGM) is one in which companies systematically and sustainably create and design health-promoting structures and processes.

Benefits and objectives of the BGM
Employees are the most important asset of a company. Only with efficient, well-trained, motivated and above all healthy employees can companies be successful in the long term. It is worthwhile to invest in the health of employees and thus in the performance and sustainability of a company with a good occupational health management system.

Benefits and objectives of the BGM:
  • satisfied employees
  • enhanced productivity
  • Increasing the attractiveness of employers
  • stronger identification with the company
  • Reduction of sick days

A good BGM process ensures success
A successful occupational health management system is strategically and systematically structured. Ideally, the management approach comprises four phases: Strategy, analysis, implementation and evaluation.

Strategy
First, a strategy tailored to the company's situation is developed. In addition, the occupational health management goals and standards are defined.

Analysis
Good occupational management uses personnel, time and money sensibly, with the first step being to record and evaluate the current status. Whether the risk assessment of psychological stress, an absenteeism structure analysis, focus groups or an employee survey: These analysis instruments are used to identify problem areas and existing resources. The result shows the needs that influence the planning and implementation of future measures.

Frequently, unused data is available in the company in the health context, for example from the personnel department. In a first step, this data should be compiled, expertly evaluated and interpreted.

Implementation
Upon analysis completion, a company should start the implementation as soon as possible. Visible success is only achievable with subsequent measures. Individual medical and psychosocial advice, suitable events as well as measures of personnel development and health promotion are conceivable in the implementation.

Evaluation
The previous BGM measures and their results will now be evaluated in terms of their benefits, and further possible fields of action will be identified. This should be done on an ongoing basis if possible.
